Reclaiming nectar from your nectar collector saves time and money. It also helps you get the most out of your cannabis concentrates because it means that you’re using all of the active cannabinoids in your wax or oil. Do you see residue in your nectar collector? That’s useful material. It’s time to learn how to reclaim it.
How to Reclaim Nectar from Your Collector
Gather Your Tools
To reclaim the nectar from your nectar collector, you’ll need the following:
- Alcohol: We recommend using the highest-proof spirit that’s available in your area. Rubbing alcohol is toxic and shouldn’t be used when cleaning a nectar collector unless you intend to throw the reclaim away.
- Pipe cleaner or small brush: For scrubbing away stubborn residue.
- Silicone mat or wax paper: For keeping the area clean and catching drips.
- Heat source: A hair dryer works well.
- Reclaim catcher or Pyrex dish: For storing your reclaim.

Disassemble the Nectar Collector
Carefully take the nectar collector apart. Separate the mouthpiece, tip and body. If your collector includes a bubbler or water pipe, pour out any leftover water. Disassembling makes it easier to clean each section and ensures that no reclaim goes to waste. Lay the pieces on your mat or wax paper to keep them organized as you work.
Heat the Tip or Body
Set your hair dryer to a low heat setting and wave it over the top or body of your nectar collector to loosen the reclaim and get it flowing. As you do this, hold the nectar collector over your reclaim catcher to gather the reclaim.
Be cautious if you’re using a glass nectar collector because high temperatures can potentially weaken or crack the glass. You can heat ceramic or silicone more aggressively.
Remove as Much Reclaim as Possible
While heating your nectar collector, tap it gently to encourage the reclaim to flow out. You can also use a dab tool to gently scrape the reclaim out of the collector.
Soak Your Nectar Collector for a Deeper Cleaning
If your nectar collector has stubborn residue that doesn’t come out with heat alone, put it in a glass or silicone dish and pour in enough alcohol to submerge the collector completely. Let it soak for about a half hour. You should see that the color of the alcohol has begun to change.
Use a dab tool or pipe cleaner to scrub any remaining reclaim from the surfaces of your nectar collector.
Rinse and Dry Your Nectar Collector
After you’ve soaked and scrubbed your nectar collector, all of the reclaim should be dissolved into the alcohol. Remove the nectar collector. Rinse it thoroughly in warm water and leave it out to dry.
Collect the Reclaim
Now that you’ve removed the reclaim from your nectar collector by dissolving it in alcohol, all that you need to do is get rid of the alcohol. The easiest way to do that is by leaving the dish out in the open for a few days and waiting for the alcohol to evaporate. If you see solid material in the alcohol, you might want to pour the solution through a fine strainer first to remove the debris.
Once the alcohol is gone, you can use a dab tool to move the reclaim into a separate container. Use an airtight lid to keep it fresh.
How to Use Reclaimed Nectar
Store Your Reclaim Properly
To maximize the potency and purity of your reclaim, you need to store it properly. We recommend using a silicone or Pyrex container with a tight-fitting lid. Just as you do with your unused concentrates, you want to minimize exposure to heat, light and air.
Reheat Reclaim with Your Dab Rig
The easiest way to use your reclaim is by dabbing it a second time. If you’re using a manual dab rig, we recommend heating the nail or banger to a lower temperature than usual to avoid burning away the remaining cannabinoids and terpenes.
Our Stinger electric nectar collector makes it easy because you can vaporize the reclaim directly from the container. Just turn the device on and touch the heating tip to the reclaim while inhaling through the mouthpiece.
Add Reclaim to Edibles
Adding reclaim to edibles is a good way to use it without wasting anything. Dissolve the reclaim in oil or melted butter before using it in your usual recipe. Remember that although reclaim has already been vaped once, it may still be quite potent – and the effects of edibles can last a long time. Be careful with your dosage.
FAQs About Dab Rig Reclaim
Are traditional or electric nectar collectors better?
Electric nectar collectors have some significant benefits over traditional ones. They offer more precise heating control, and they’re also more convenient because there’s no need to use a torch or lighter.
Can you mix reclaim with fresh concentrates?
Absolutely! Remember that reclaimed nectar has already been vaped once, though, which means that the flavor and effects will differ compared to fresh concentrates. Because concentrates can be very expensive, you might want to use the reclaim separately to ensure that your experience with the fresh material is as good as it can be.
What is a dab tool, and why do you need one?
A dab tool is a small metal tool with an end shaped like a small scraper or shovel. It’s one of the most important accessories that you can have for dabbing because it keeps your hands clean and helps to ensure precise dosing.
Reclaiming Nectar Is Easy with the Right Nectar Collector
Herbal concentrates aren’t cheap, and you don’t want to let a drop go to waste. The residue inside your nectar collector is still potent, and reclaiming it allows you to collect it and use it a second time. Knowing how to gather and use your reclaim is one of the most important skills that you can have as a dabbing aficionado.
Want to make the process even easier? Take a look at our Stinger electric nectar collector. Easy to use and easy to clean, the Stinger eliminates messes by allowing you to vape your reclaim directly from the storage container.
